Protesters report about provocations, warn police
YEREVAN. – Protesters reported about plainclothes people who are handing over rubber batons to the passers-by, activist Maksim Sargsyan told Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valery Osipyan.

Deputy Chief of Police said he would deal with the issue.

Talking to reporters, Maksim Sargsyan told reporters that provocations are being staged against activists.

“We will stay here until our demand is met. We can stay at night too,” he said.

Police dispersed a sit-in action against rise in electricity prices on early on Tuesday morning . Later in the day the demonstrators decided to start a new action in Baghramyan Avenue. The action continues since 7p.m. Tuesday.

Despite numerous protests, the Public Services Regulatory Commission increased the price of electricity in Armenia, and this decision will take effect on August 1. The decision, however, is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of numerous products and services in the country.
